Calm Ocean View
Serene Ocean Sunset

Saltwater Psychotherapy is a private practice grounded in mindfulness, compassion, and genuine human connection. Inspired by the steady and ever-changing nature of the ocean, this practice honors both resilience and vulnerability as essential parts of the healing process.

Therapy here is not about fixing what’s “wrong,” but about creating space to understand what you’re carrying, develop new ways of relating to yourself and others, and move through life with more intention and ease.

About

Meet Ellie Costa, LMHC

I’m Ellie Costa, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and the owner of Saltwater Psychotherapy. I work primarily with adults—supporting people through many of the challenges that naturally arise across the lifespan.

Clients often describe my style as calming, grounded, and relational. I value authenticity and collaboration, and I strive to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel seen, respected, and supported at your own pace.

In addition to general psychotherapy, I have specialized training in:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for trauma and distressing life experiences

  • Perinatal and infant mental health, including pregnancy, postpartum, fertility challenges, and identity shifts related to parenthood

  • Mindfulness-based psychotherapy, integrating awareness, nervous system regulation, and present-moment practices

These approaches are woven thoughtfully into therapy when helpful, always guided by your goals and readiness.

Treatment

Specializing in Therapy for

Anxiety

When worry, restlessness, or fear begin to shape daily life, therapy can offer a place to slow the pace. Together, we work toward steadier footing. Therapy supports the practice of listening to what anxiety is signaling while building greater calm and self-trust.

Depression

Depression can feel like heaviness, numbness, or disconnection from yourself and the world around you. Therapy provides a supportive space to explore what you’re carrying and to gently reconnect with meaning, energy, and hope.

Trauma/EMDR

Trauma can leave lasting imprints on the nervous system, even long after an experience has passed. With care, patience, and specialized training in EMDR, therapy can help process what’s been held, allowing for greater safety, integration, and ease.

Perinatal Issues

The perinatal period bring profound emotional shifts. I offer compassionate support for individuals navigating fertility challenges, pregnancy, postpartum changes, loss, and evolving identity during this tender time.

Grief and Loss

Grief takes many forms and unfolds on its own timeline. Whether you’re mourning a loved one, a relationship, or a life you imagined, therapy can be a place to honor your loss and find ways to carry it with care.

Relationships

Our relationships often reflect our deepest needs, patterns, and vulnerabilities. Therapy offers a space to explore how you relate to others, and to yourself, with curiosity and care, supporting healthier boundaries, deeper connection, and more authentic relationships.
